Urban Essence review Lee Steele at the Connecticut Post: Downtown’s mid-1800s Arcade, which was recently given a serious renovation and finally has some more tenants, was given a serious boost this week when the Bridgeport Arts and Cultural Council started mounted its Urban Essence exhibit. The show opens with a reception 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10. Curated by Janine Brown and Thomas Mezzanotte, FAC’s artist of the year, the BACC office space is filled with contemporary photos of today’s Bridgeport. The photos are beautiful without being sentimental, celebrating the city’s toughness and grit and not flinching from despair and detachment. |
